PDCF – WHERE YOUR GIFT KEEPS GIVING

Cultivating an enduring legacy that will grow over time and will continue to strengthen the quality of life in our community

We are a charitable public foundation dedicated to strengthening the quality of life in Perth, Drummond/North Elmsley, Lanark Highlands, and Tay Valley so that everyone belongs and thrives, today and into the future.

We address community needs and opportunities through grants to registered charities.

  • Since 2003, we have awarded over $2.8 million in grants benefitting children, youth, seniors, and families.
  • In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, PDCF grants to local charities totaled just over $500,000

We connect the generosity of donors with the energy and ideas of people and community organizations to support local projects that have a meaningful and lasting impact.

We acknowledge that Lanark County is situated on the ancestral and unceded traditional land of the Omàmìwininì, also known as the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. With this acknowledgment comes respect for the land and the people who have been living here since time immemorial. As part of this land acknowledgment, we recognize the injustices of the past and those that continue today. We recognize our responsibility to contribute to reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples of the land we call Canada.

To this end, we are learning about the impact of colonization on the Indigenous peoples of Canada, we have established an annual Indigenous Youth Award, through our partnership with Indspire, a national Indigenous charity, and we will communicate the results of our actions to the community.

For over a decade, @planblanark brought community members together through art, food preparation, gardening and shared meals. Lead by founder Melanie Mills and a Board of Directors, Plan B made the hard decision to officially cease operations in 2024, but leave us with this message:
"Although Plan B has officially closed as an organized community group, we are all still here working towards an even more supportive and inclusive community with the same people we always have."

PDCF awarded Community Grants to Plan B over the years to support its work, and we are very sorry to see it gone. We know its impact is lasting.

Since 2015, the Perth FireDawgs has been removing economic barriers to physical fitness for community youth - FireDawgs programming is free to all participants, and they supply all necessary equipment.

A 2024-2025 PDCF Community Grant is helping to keep the free swimming, skating and hockey programs going!

April 23, 2025 Perth Courier-Journal article:
"More kids in Perth will have access to free sports programs thanks to a new partnership between the Town of Perth and the Perth FireDawgs, supported by a $19,150 grant from the Perth and District Community Foundation.
Town Council recently passed a bylaw to formalize the agreement, which will help cover costs for programs such as swimming, skating, hockey, and golf.
'This grant really helps us do more projects in town,' said Fire Chief Trevor Choffe, praising the FireDawgs' ongoing commitment to local youth. He noted the group has expanded the annual golf tournament - once run by the former Perth Police Service - into a major fundraiser for recreational initiatives.
The partnership aims to reduce financial barriers and encourage more young people to get active and involved in community sports."
Established in 2009, Rideau Search and Rescue is comprised of skilled volunteers trained in search and rescue to locate missing people. Members are trained in first aid, search and rescue standards, search patterns and have many other areas of expertise that are valuable during searches.

In a recent training exercise, volunteers practiced using new handheld GPS units purchased via a PDCF Community Grant. These devices help with both search effectiveness, by providing accurate information on search areas and patterns, and the personal safety for the volunteers themselves.
